USACUA Umpire Mohamed Gaffur of Florida passes away

USACUA deeply regrets to inform you that Umpire Mohamed Gaffur of Florida, passed away this Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 27, 2014 at 4:00pm.

The funeral services will be held on Sunday November 30th, 2014 at:

6301 Taft Street
Hollywood Florida 33024.

The viewing will be held on Sunday, 10:00am to 11:00am.

Wife of Umpire Wilton Ricketts passes away

Umpire Ricketts who has been an integral part of the USACUA lost his beloved wife yesterday, Nov 13th, 2014.

Mr. Fitzroy Hayles, President of the Association extended his deepest sympathies and condolences on behalf of the members of the Association to Umpire Wilton Ricketts on the death of his wife.

The funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Dunamis Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The viewing will be on Sunday 23rd Nov 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Church. The repast and the service will follow the viewing. Interment will be on the following Monday morning in New Jersey.

Umpire Douglas Sang Hue OD dies

Gentlemen, It is indeed a sad day for the Jamaica Cricket Umpires’ Association (JCUA) and West Indies Cricket Umpires’ Association (WICUA) family. The passing of Douglas Sang-Hue OD, former Test and International Umpire has left a huge void in our umpiring fraternity. Mr. Sang-Hue epitomized the true standard of excellence that every umpire would like to aspire for.He had been a true ambassador for Jamaica and the entire West Indies, representing us locally, regionally and internationally with distinction. We will surely miss him.
¬†On behalf of the West Indies Cricket Umpires’ Association which he served with grace, humility and distinction, I would like to extend condolence to his family. May his soul rest in peace.Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The Passing of A Legend -Lennox “Douggie” Douglas, a.k.a. “Springer”

The Executive and members of the United States of America Cricket Umpires Assn., (USACUA) wish to announce the passing of one of its legendary member Lennox “Douggie” Douglas. Umpire Douglas passed away on Sunday September 30, 2012.

Known by many as just “Douggie”, he was a very active member of the USACUA family.Umpire Douglas was born in St Vincent and the Grenadines where he developed his love for cricket umpiring. On his migration to the USA, he became a member of the new formed USACUA, and continued to dedicate himself in serving the local leagues in the New York Cricket Region.He was an integral part of the umpiring fraternity for the New City Department of Education Public School Athletic League (PSAL) high school cricket competition, as well as the New York City Police Department (NYPD Cricket) Under 19 Competition, where he served with equal diligence and dedication.When last we spoke, Umpire Douglas reminded me that he has served cricket in the role of an umpire for more than 45 years.

USACUA Founding Member Mr. Owen Roberts passes away

USACUA President Mr. Fitzroy Hayles regretfully announced the passing away of Mr. Owen Roberts, a founding member of the USA Cricket Umpires Association.

Mr. Roberts was one of the founding member of our association and have served with distinction in several capacities within the association.

Mr. Roberts passed away early this morning, January 2nd, 2012 after a long illness. We wish to extend our sympathy to his family in their time of grief.
