The 2013 USACUA Preliminary and Final Exams will be held on:

Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 9:00am.

 

The venues will be announced later.

The official start time will be 9:00am sharp.

USACUA AGM and Elections held March 10, 2013

The Annual General Meeting of the United States of America Cricket Umpires Association, Inc. was held on Sunday, March 10, 2013.

The following officers were elected to serve a period of two (2) years:

USACUA AGM and Elections set for February 10, 2013 2:00pm

The Annual General Meeting of the United States of America Cricket Umpires Association, Inc. will be held in Sunday, February 10, 2013.

The agenda for the meeting shall be as follows:

  • Review the minutes of the previous AGM
  • Correction and confirmation of the minutes of the previous AGM
  • Review correspondences
  • Review the Secretary’s report
  • Review reports from committees
  • Review the President’s annual report
  • Review the Treasurer’s report
  • Conduct any other business that may properly come before the meeting
  • Elect Officers

 

There will be a separate communication on the Election process, which will be sent later. In the meanwhile if any financial member would like to nominate any candidate for any position, they can forward the same to the secretary of the association.

Please be advised the training sessions officially begin on Sunday January 20, 2013 and will last for 14 weeks.

The Passing of A Legend -Lennox “Douggie” Douglas, a.k.a. “Springer”

The Executive and members of the United States of America Cricket Umpires Assn., (USACUA) wish to announce the passing of one of its legendary member Lennox “Douggie” Douglas. Umpire Douglas passed away on Sunday September 30, 2012.

Known by many as just “Douggie”, he was a very active member of the USACUA family.Umpire Douglas was born in St Vincent and the Grenadines where he developed his love for cricket umpiring. On his migration to the USA, he became a member of the new formed USACUA, and continued to dedicate himself in serving the local leagues in the New York Cricket Region.He was an integral part of the umpiring fraternity for the New City Department of Education Public School Athletic League (PSAL) high school cricket competition, as well as the New York City Police Department (NYPD Cricket) Under 19 Competition, where he served with equal diligence and dedication.When last we spoke, Umpire Douglas reminded me that he has served cricket in the role of an umpire for more than 45 years.

USACUA Umpires top WICUA 2011 Oral and Practical Examination

Here are the results of the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association (WICUA) 2011 Oral and Practical Examination Results as released to the media by USACUA.

Twenty-two (22) candidates took the 2011 Final Oral and Practical examinations; 21 persons (95.5%) were successful and one (1) person (4.5%) failed. The candidate who attained the highest percentage is Mohammed Baksh of the United States of America (USA) with 98%, followed by Nazar Ali (USA); Barry Singh and Kellman Kowlessar, both Trinidadians, each attaining scores of 97%. Umpire Deepak Katte of New Jersey (Atlantic Region) and Ravishankar Byrappagowda of California (North West Region) attained individual scores of 96%.
