Hello Fellow Umpires,
It is Convention time again. We are in the year of the WICUA Biennial Convention to be held in Kingston, Jamaica From July 1 to July 8, 2017. Please find attached, information from Jamaica with regards to accommodation at the University Campus of the West Indies where the convention is scheduled to take place. There are other hotel accommodation in Kingston that are available for persons that want to go that route. Jamaica’s organizing committee will provide the hotels’ information in the near future. Please make your arrangements accordingly by communicating with Mr. Norman Malcolm, President of the Jamaica Cricket Umpires’ Association to provide these details.
Secondly, please note that all reports and articles for the Convention Brochure are to be sent to the WICUA Secretary by email, by March 31, 2017.
Thirdly, “Nominations for election to the WICUA Executive shall be submitted in writing to the WICUA Secretary not later than three months before the date of the General Council Meeting, provided that the nominees indicate to the Honorary Secretary their willingness to undertake the office.” This means that nominations must be submitted to the Secretary by March 31 2017.

The 2017 edition of the WICUA Convention will be held from July 1st to July 8th of 2017.

The 2015 WICUA Convention hosted by the United States Cricket Umpires’ Association came to a close on Friday, 24th July culminating in a glittering standing-room only banquet at the New York Radisson Hotel near JFK International Airport.
The 27th Biennial Convention was a huge success according to the large contingent of umpires from the West Indian Islands in the Caribbean.
The next convention will be hosted by Jamaica and the announcement was met with a resounding applause.
Mr. Fitzroy Hayles thanked his Convention Organizing team, that included Mr. Nick Grant, Mr. Roan McFarlane, Mr. Mohammad S. Baksh and Ms. Petula Samuels, among others.
The WICUA President Mr. Cecil Fletcher also expressed his thanks to USACUA for providing an excellent platform for WICUA to discuss its agenda and address the order of business.
The elections returned largely the current elected officers, unopposed, with the exception of Area 3 Vice-President. Mr. Roger Davies will assume the role of Area 3 Vice-President replacing Mr. Goaland Greaves.
The Convention provided an avenue to discuss interesting umpiring topics and ideas from the convention delegates and observers.
Mr. Chambers from the USA Cricket Hall Of Fame was the keynote speaker. Mr. Nick Perry, Councilman and the PSAL Commissioner Mr. Bassett Thompson were also present at the gala.
